Rock Restack project

Just thought I would share some pics of a little project I am working on. I originally stacked the rock in my tank when I was very new to the hobby. Lately, it has taken on a sort of blobular, shapeless form. Inspired by our fearless leader, I decided to build a pvc and eggcrate structure to stack rock on.

Here are some before pics of the tank, sorry for the fuzziness and the green-ness:

and a pic of my rock rack, it is like paulw's only sexier:

I started the project last night by pulling out all the rock in the tank. I was not able to finish last night because the water was way too murky after I stirred up the rock and dirt that had been untouched for 2 years, and it was getting late and I needed to go to bed. I ended up just piling the rock in a front corner, and now tonight i am going to set about actually stacking it. In the process of going thru my rock, I removed some pieces of limestone. I do not want the lime stone anymore. I set aside some of the pieces that had some nice coralline growth on them and a few pieces may even have a random polyp of something on them. I am giving these rocks away, if you are interested pm me. I will post some after pics after I get all the rock restacked and the dust settles.

Wow, looking good.

If I may add a suggestion, place "T" s on the legs, It helps stabilize them.

Looks good Sarah. I used a similar structure on one end. On the other end, the rock sits on the bottom. I used dark gray, flat slate on top of the outer edges of the eggcrate. Makes a more natural looking overhang. Plus, the slate looks pretty cool with some marine growth on it.

Post more pics!
