rocks, frag plugs and ich

I see that this section of the forum talks alot about diseases on fish. What about rocks/corals? What does everyone do when you get a coral from the lfs or a hobbiest? Does anyone know if the coral dips that they sell, kill ick on the rocks or plugs that the corals are attached/encrusted too?
I have a dilemma. I just got a huge rock that has an sps coral encrusted on it. I just finished the transfer method on 5 fish with great success and now I'm worried about putting this rock with the encrusted sps in my tank without qting it. I got the encrusted rock from my cousin and his fish do not show any signs of ich. But I keep second guessing about putting it in my tank. I don't have the lighting to keep the rock in a seperate tank. Should I cut my losses and frag it to clean and cure the rock? I really hate to do this as the rock looks really nice with the encrusted sps.

No water transfer is important. For non-fish items 3 days QT in fresh saltwater is sufficient.

A 10 minute dip in bayer advanced insect killer is a good preventative measure too for corals. (10mL per 500mL tank water in a separate bucket)

be very leary of putting any rock directly into your tank that came from a system that contained fish
i did this and shortly after adding the rock i had to deal with a crypto for over a year.
best practice is to get coral and inverts from non fish systems.

if your cousin had fish that are known ich magnets..i.e hippos and you didnt notice anything on them.. that would be a good sign the system is healthy.. but still a chance..
