RODI Float Switch Question

I just bought a new one from the aquarium on Sunday.

Works much better than my old one but at twice the cost. It does have a pressure gague on the unit....

When my float switch in the bucket shuts down the water....The valve in the RODI stops all water but the pressure climbes to 130PSI or more.....Kinda makes me nervous something is going to blow here.

I left it on for a few days to see what happened and it did spring a leak at one of the guest fittings.....Slow leak but enough to cause a flood if a leave for a few days.

We are off to PHX on Friday and I am trying to get it to fully work so I can have plenty of top off in my 5 gallon bucket for my 125...I can run through 5 gallons in about 2.5 days....

How do yall have yours hooked up?

thanks

If you have 130psi in your house water system you may need a pressure regulator installed in the main incoming line. The wear and tear on the valves through out your home are taking a beating and will most likely fail prematurely. Mine was 140psi and I was always needing to replace the valve seats in the kitchen faucet. I loved the high pressure in the shower, but it too needed to be replaced about every 6-8 months.
Most RODI filters work very well at about 60-70psi. Anything higher and they too will fail much too soon.

Like goreefer said, get a plumber to check the pressure valve coming into the house. Mine went bad this past summer and was even leaking. Typically, my house pressure is between 60-70. When this valve went out, the pressure jumped to well over 100. It will be located just after the main shutoff coming into the house.
