Rookie Mistake What now?

I just bought my first 3 fish on Sunday night. I looked them over before I bought them and they all looked good to me. I didn't really do my research and don't have a QT tank. So I just drip acclimated the 3 fish. Well last night after work I noticed that there was about 6-7 white spots that look like a grain of sugar on my Gramma Basslet. I don't know if it was ICH or not, but didn't know what else it could be.

I ended up catching the fish last night and taking it out of the tank. What should I do with the other two fish and the tank? Should I just leave them in and see if they do not get it? I don't want to stress them out by moving them around when they show no signs of it.

Is it safe to say that after a month if my other fish haven't got it that my tank is good or do I need to wait the full 90 days?

I don't know is the tank contaminated with him just being in there or do the parasites have to leave the fish to contaminate?

I will be for sure getting a QT tank today for my future fish purchases.

Like I said I don't know for sure if it even was ICH as I have no experience with it. I think I will just keep taking care of my other fish and make sure they don't get it. After a few weeks if they show no signs I might get another fish and QT them properly.

Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated.

if you can take a picture of the fish will really help us out and telling you what she has .. it could be be a number of things ..

Please read the ich stickies in the disease section of the forum; this is vital stuff for anyone. It sounds like ich; if any fish has it, your whole tank does. The only way to cure it is to treat all of the fish in a HT/QT while the tank remains fishless for at least 9 weeks. I hope you'll re-think the QT; without a good QT regimen, this will happen again. (Assuming this is ich.) Also, the ''whitespot" isn't the actual parasite and they are not an indicator of the parasite's life-cycle progress.

Here is the pics I have right now.

So I should take the other 2 fish out and QT them?

You can see the specs on the tail and that's the only place I saw them.

I did the same thing and i got ICH!! Now, I'm treating with ICH ATTACK and feeding flakes in the morning and brine shrimp later at night with GARLIC GUARD. i have not put my hands in at all to not stress the fish out and so far, its working yay!!! I learned from reading the stickies in the disease section. best luck to you.

What did you do w/the fish you removed since you have no QT....?

I just used a water change bucket I had ready for water changes that had a heater and a pump in it. Now I will just have to sanitize the equipment before I put it back into service.

I only have the 2 fish in my DT and I am almost considering starting all over. I could take everything out of my tank clean it up and get new LR and LS and have my tank cycled in 2 weeks as oppsed to waiting 10 weeks for the ICH to come back again. I have no corals or anything yet.

Ok another question for you guys. ICH does not affect corals right? So I would be ok to start adding some corals to my tank so I at least have something to look at?
