I'm wondering if anyone knows if its safe to keep fish with a smasher since they're supposed to pray on crabs/snails etc... mainly. I read somewhere that you only need to exclude fish from your tank if you have a spearer.
My smasher mantis hasn't touched my damsel or baslett. He is about 3-4 inches and they are living happily in a 10 gallon. I only feed him about 4 ghost shrimp a week too.
I've a 2 damsels in with a 3" smasher for about a week now. They haven't interacted yet. In fact, the mantis seems a little more cautious when moving around the tank now. I have kept him well fed so that he wont be tempted.
Thx for sharing the info guys. I'm trying to get some idea of what I'd be able to do with a mantis tank. I don't plan on putting anything too expensive in there with one and if i get any indication that hes eyeballing one of them i'll remove them. Thx for the help.
