i got one about 4 weeks ago online. it walked about for a week and then went behind a rock out of view. day later two come back out. this morning i woke to one of them on the front glass and yes it was splitting again. so i went to work. at work my wife calls me to say that there are now 4 in the tank. the one that we saw this morning split twice in the same day. ? is ..... is this a good sign or am i about to lose my anemones? my wife keeps laughing... the clown is going from one to the other to the other to the other and back again

its been my experience that when an anemone is stressed is when it will split. i know they don't like high nitrates over 20 ppm, and they don't like salinity changes. what kind of lights do you have over it ?.

250w mh 2 36"vho salinity stays as close as i can keep it and nitrates were good the last time i checked them. i will recheck them tomarrow. all four of them are doing well. i will let them get at least twice their size before i sell any of them.
thanks for the input. im happy to see things growing/slitting well!!

your lights are most likely why its streesed and splitting. they will probably find a "shady" spot to set and be fine. i have seen those anemones bleach under MH lighting.

getting shipped cross-country was probably the stress that induced the split.

one of the best ways to get them to split (other than scissors-which works too) is to feed them like crazy for a week or two, then do a 50% waterchange.

mine liked the brightest light they could get. i had halides, and they walked to the back of the tank to get into direct sunlight (which when direct sunlight was beaming in, you couldn't even tell the halides were on). they were so happy they had bubbles on top of bubbles on top of the bubble tips.

they have been sitting in direct halide light. the only time it walked out of light was to split the first time. other then that they say out and the last two splits were under halide light. i agree that it could have been the shipping that did it but i did order two others for two other tanks and they haven't split. mine on the other hand does get feed alot. anemones are something i do good with. i would like to get another carpet tho. after i sold the last two (do to their size) i missed them. maybe sometime soon ill get another or trade a few rbta for one. who knows it could become like bill and his xenia, and have to give them away. one could only wish
