router and modem suggestions?

i have an apex , vdm, and wxm and have been trying to set it up for some time now. Im a busy college student and am on break and need to get the apex programmed!! I have a time warner cable wireless router and am having trouble getting the port forwarding to stay on....so Im going to just purchase a second router and modem....do i need the modem and router? and what brands of each should i get? thanks guys one reefer to another.

I have a Linksys rvs4000, anything you need it to do it will do. I have used others but this router does everything, no limits. http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/ps9928/index.html

Let's not jump the gun... the router and cable modem themselves are probably not the problem - more likely, the problem is the configuration of the system (router/Apex/DynDNS) as a whole.

I got no answer on your phone at the time we had set up to work on this back in December. My offer still stands to help you directly.

Just a suggestion, I used a netgear for about a year until it stop working, they are junk don't ever buy one. I looked around for a better solution and ended up going with a slinglink and it has been one of the best things I have ever used.
Its a plug and play unit, you just plug it in to a wall socket and its just like running a cable you get a direct line from the router to the apex , I have been able to do updates my apex with it as well.
