Royal Gramma + Damsal =?

Hi I have 30 gal. FOWLR. I just purchased 4 yellow bellied blue damsal's and a royal gramma.

Was this a bad idea. I was told the yellow bellied is a rather docile damsel. But it looks like 1 is keeping the gramma hostage in a hole.

Found the answer floating in the bottom of the tank.

Damsels as a group are just nasty little fish. In bigger systems you can sometimes avoid the aggression and if kept with larger fish they can be nice additions to a tank. In smaller tanks with more peaceful fish, it's best to leave them out of the mix. I actually have two in my 37 and they have attitude but don't pester anything else. Lesson learned.
