Royal pencil wrasse

I have a chance to get one. Just wondering if they are a good addition to a tank that has a few differant kind of wrasses in it now? My tank is a 220gal reef. Are these fish mean, and hide alot?

No, not mean. But they die alot.

They're a very touchy/sensitive species that really never thrives in the home aquarium. They often just up and die for no reason.

+1 low probability of success and a prolific jumper.

Mine did great for a year. But yes, it jumped. Sadness.

i had one a couple of years ago that was beautiful and looked healthy when I bought him from my LFS. He ate well in my tank, but died after only 2 weeks. it wasn't clear to me why. I also noticed that they swim a lot and seemed confined in my 90 gallon.

I don't think I'd try one again in my 125.
