rubbermaid stock tanks...

Anyone use these to hold RODI water. I think the 100g stock tank is under $70bux. I am thinking about getting 2 or 3. one for RODI, one for SW, and one or a frag tank later down the road.

they also have a 150g, and 300g.

It should be ok. Some folks use those for there sump. But I think thats too much to hold some RO/DI unless you plan on using 100G a week. You prolly dont want it to sit too long and becomes stagnant. JMO anyways.

yeah, i was planning on only having a few gallons a week for FW top offs, maybe only 20 or 25g.

the rubbermaid BRUTE trash can makes a good container for top off or saltwater...it's 32g and food grade so you don't have to worry about chemicals leaching into the DI water. The one you point out is a good one too, but the size???

well I was thinking about the 44g brute as well. They had them at lowes for 50 bux. I am looking at an RODI unit that does 60GPD, initially I will need that to fill the tank, but I don't plan on having 100 gallons of RODI all the time, unless I could give it away or trade for small frags.... hmmm. :D

My RO/DI makes 36 gallons a day. Perfect for my rubbermaid auto top off. I don't fill it all the way cuz the gravity of the water pushes through the pump and tops of the fuge too high.

I agree with Russ, get a smaller RO/DI can. RO/DI water is very aggressive according to sprung, and they recommend a tight fitting lid. Maybe that means it attracts contaminants easier than unpurified water? I don't know but I like the brute idea if your on a budget, those work great. Otherwise purpose built water storage containers are available.

my ro/di tank is a water tank for a motor home. It is a 40 gal white hard plastic bladder----it works great. I picked it up at a trailer repair shop for about 50 bux-

Personally i got tired of almost always having my RO/DI running either to make NSW or for topoff. Now I have a 30 gal container for saltwater and an 80 gal for RO/DI. All for a 56 Oceanic, and a pair of 15's.

Reefkoi is right by aggressive they mean that it is so pure that it easily attracts unwanted stuff. Normal water is usually Ionically stable, while RO/DI is looking for stuff to fill its Ionic need. Drinking only RO/DI would actually make you very sick as it pulls ions from your system to satisfy itself.
But its great for mixing Gatorade, and Tea. :)
