Hi, I purchased a female ruby red scooter blenny about a month ago and she is doing great. Our tank is well established and has plenty of copepods. I get our fish from an excellent fish store that is quite knowledgeable and keeps great livestock. I spoke with them about getting another Ruby Red. They said that two males would fight, but a male and a female should get along fine. Well, I picked up my male today and he is beautiful. I'm a bit concerned though because they swim around together but then lock lips and kind of wrestle around for about 30 seconds and then stop. Then they go back to doing their own thing but keep locking lips every 5 or 10 minutes. I'm not sure if this is aggressive behavior or if they are just establishing dominance and getting to know each other. I've fed them frozen shrimp and they both are eating well and I've also observed them eating copepods in between the times that they have these "wrestling matches". I've attached a few photos. If anyone has a pair of Ruby Red's any advice would be appreciated! Thanks!
