Running a fallow tank..

I pulled my fish about a year ago to run hypo. I let the tank run fallow for 8 weeks and I've never seen a trace of ich since. I would suggest waiting longer than 4 weeks. If you went to the trouble of pulling your fish and putting them in qt etc, I would make sure you don't rush it and waste your time.

i also ran mine successfully for 6 weeks fallow with no problem. it has no major affect on the tanks success.

I have run QT tanks fallow for extended periods of time, months at a time. I do feed pure ammonia to the tanks to keep the biofilters up.

I have never run a display fallow, probably because I have the QT.

I QT fish, corals, snails, shrimp, anything that is a threat.
