Sad Thread

My dad's company is tearing down their 180 gallon in wall tank today. This was the first SW tank I ever remember seeing. It was viewable from two sides. The one side was the main entrance to the building and the other was the conference room. So the other bad part is that they are donating it all, for a tax write off, to The World Aquarium. Corals, livestock and equipment are all going to the world aquarium. I didn't even know they were still around?:(

Got a picture of it before it goes?

I was only at the World Aquarium 1 time, and that was Shortly after they moved to the City Museum years ago. I remember thinking then that it was a pathetic excuse for an "aquarium". Since then I have heard very little good and a lot of bad about the management and their treatment of the life in their care.

Yeah I did not get a great vibe when I visited and have not heard any positive comments about the place recently...

They should have considered you first! Our Saint Louis Science Center tanks would've been a much better option:(

I wish the partners would have talked to me first about it. My dad doesn't know much about SW, it was the older partner that was the fish guy. He had the company that was maintaining the tank handle the take down.

That's sad. If it is the same group that was in the city museum, a buddy of mine that works there said they got kicked out for neglecting the animals. dunno how much truth is behind that but that's heart breaking man...

I went through the City Museum recently, it was really kind of sad to see the state of some of those tanks, in some I wondered if filtration was even running. There was a tank in the tunnels that was looking especially sad. Love the city museum and it is incredible what they have done, but their tanks are struggling. Could have something to do with the pounds of coins that get thrown in to them. Also I just made this account, I hope it isn't weird that I have been lurking SLASH for a while.
