Saddle valve help!

Any tips for getting the little white ring on the saddle valve in enough to screw the nut on? I cant seem to figure this out for some reason. Ive tried the white ring both ways inside the nut, neither works. Seems like the white ring is too big to fit inside the valve itself

I have never used one because they are junk. It's a good way to flood your house. That being said. I'd look it up on YouTube.
