my water levels:
amonia .25
nitrite 0
ph 8.2
nitrate 20
salinity perfect
temp 78

is it safe to add two SMALL ( stressing small ) false perculas to my tank tommorow?? i have a plate coral, two serpent stars, hermet crab and bristle worms.....

would it live, because i do have some amonia as you can see and my nitrates are a little high???

Your ammonia is at .25 and as most will say any it still too high to put fish in, it should be at 0. Nitrates are high but the fish should be able to live through that. You list your “salinity” as “perfect” what is perfect and how was it measured?
thats my 2cents worth

thank you..... i have a oceanic salinity measurer and it floats in the water and the area at which salinity should be is marked..... and if the thing is raised to that green area then the salinity is good..

ive used clowns to cycle tanks they are pretty durable, invets usually dont handle ammonia well though. they can also handle a pretty wide range of salinities.

as for you having ammonia, that scares me a bit, how long has the tank been up and running? also the star would concern me in that small of a tank with small clowns, brittle starts are more notorious for eating small clowns at night.

i have two smal serpent brittle starts.. they are around the size of quarters... i dont think they would be able to eat the clown wouldnt the clown just swim away?? umm.. my tank has been going for a good two months already.. and i think my fish got sick because my clown and damsel both died and my wrasse just went completely missing i dont know what was going on so i waited a few weeks and now i want to get some fish back in my tank.. the only thing wrong though is the amonia...

I wanted to fix it by adding saltwater to my tank from the ocean... on my next water change... but of course i would test the ocean water first to make sure its perameters were okay......

What do you mean "they got sick"?
Did they get "ick"? Because if they had ick when you introduce the new ones as it has only been a couple weeks your new fish are going to get it and it will be a never ending cycle.
You ammonia is a issue. I would wait for it to come down. There is a reason why it is so high.
And the ocean water thing i have heard is not a great idea as you need to go way out in the ocean to get clean water per say. I may be wrong on this as i am in bitterly cold canada...lol
But the ocean is polluted with things i am sure we can not test for...I would make up some new water in a bucket do a water change and let it sit for a few days. But if those fish died of ick i would let that tank sit for a few more weeks.

Although this is just my .02 cents worth:)
