Howdy fellow babies The SLSC has a nice tank that SLASH helped set up a year or so ago, it's 48"x48" cubish tank if I remember correctly. It's pretty decked out with technology, but it doesn't have much in the way of corals and they have a very limited budget. What I'd like to propose, is if anyone that has some extra softy frags or colonies, who plans to attend our next Pizza Night, if they would be willing to bring them out that night.

Matt from Docs Eco Eggs is going to go out there the following morning for some follow up with their feeding system and he will stock the tank up with whatever SLASH members can donate. The tank is primarily live rock and some algae at present. It sounds like they need a clean up crew as well, but stocking the tank with easy soft corals would go a long way to getting the tank going strong. I'll bring a coral for the frags so Matt can keep everything oxygenated overnight, the bigger the bag and the more water, the better.

We go out there one Saturday each month, but the attendance is pretty limited to just Ebius If you're willing to help check water parameters, perform water changes and other routine maintenance, then express so on this thread.

I typically can not make the weekend maintenance session, but plan on starting a weekday afternoon session to check the tank parameters and ensure that things look healthy, as well as suggesting ways to improve it with livestock additions. This is adults only, no children and the pay is not good The feeling of donating to a tank that can reach so many is priceless.

I have a nice unknown softy and a caulastrea mini colony I would love to move along. Both very easy corals, but I cant make pizza night this go round. I anyone from St Charles is going out there PM with your contact info and maybe we can work out an alternative.

Really important to remember as the times are not during Museum Hours. Not a good time to be walking around visiting other exhibits. The club is there to volunteer time to do a job. The rest of the family would need to wait outside the building until regular hours of operation. For some unseen reason members have ignored this in the past.

Ebius should there be an age requirement? I know mpcart and I have older children in the hobby that would probably tag along to help if the numbers are low again. lil_rams is 16.

In addition should we do a signup sheet with spots? A large group would probably be awkward and non-productive. I am reminded the plus and minus of the projects in the past. Very good to see people inquiring, stepping up volunteer numbers from the previous skeleton crews.

I think the age is technically 18 for insurance reasons. I have a little pull there so as long as it is discussed with me in advanced and given the green light, we can sneak in younger. I would say lil_rams would not be a problem.

I am happy to see so much interest in supporting the tank. A couple of quick things:

• First, we aren't going to put in any invasive/super fast corals. This means no GSP, Kenya Tree, Xenia, etc. The main reason for this is that the tank is not watched as closely as the ones on your houses and the tank will eventually wind up being only those species if we put them in there.
  
  
• We are normally there the first Saturday of each month at around 0730. This gives us plenty of time to take care of things in the cube tank before they open. We are normally messing with the other tank while they are open but that is less of an ordeal on most days.
  

I would like to say it isn't just me, Systom (I think I have the spelling right) has also been showing up and helping me for the past several years. We used to do a couple of weeknights throughout the years (starting at 1700-ish) but stopped a couple of years after nobody showing up. If there is enough interest we can certainly bring that back. I used to keep a schedule up and remind everyone that we were doing it, but again stopped after it was a wasted effort. I will start it back up and see how things go. As long as other club members are wanting to support it I will keep the information out there.

Just a friendly reminder if you're going to Pizza Night this Thursday and have some extra corals to donate to the Saint Louis Science Center reef tank. The tank is pretty much just live rock and a couple small single mushroom frags, so it could definitely use some SLASH MAGIC!

I would like to offer this softy,( Camo coral? ) and the caulastrea below if you think it would be a good fit for the tank. The trumpets are the mint green and blue variety mixed on one plug. I have fond these to be more hardy than the super bright neon green variety.

The softy is called a Colt Coral and that's the one that got me hooked on reefing. Webster University had one in their 55g reef tank in their Science Lab many years ago with a big lawnmower blenny.
