Anyone experience with salifert alk test kit? Tested my tank water twice and no significant color changes. So I tested a fresh mixed Instant Ocean salt...Nothing!

Did I messed up the test?

you added two drops of the blue, and then the full 1.0ml of the solution with the syringe and then it never turned pink?

are you sure you used the reagent and not the check solution? the kits normally come with the dropper bottle of blue liquid, a small bottle of check solution and then a large bottle of reagent. I dont have mine in front of me otherwise I'd tell you the exact names

I added two drops of the blue solution and then I put the plastic extension tip on the 1ml syringe and draw the solution until the bottom of the black rubber is at the 1ml.

It never turned pink, too much or little of Alk in water?

Yes, I'm not really sure what the smaller bottle for though. I used the blue bottle and the big clear bottle to test water.

Alright, who want me to test their Alk level lol. I tested the "calibration" fluid and it still not working right.

fatrip where did you get that quote from? You realize that the quote is actually from Don B. Kates not Sigmund Freud right? n00b

"A fear of weapons is a sign of retarded sexual and emotional maturity." --Sigmund Freud, General Introduction to Psychoanalysis...it was said in the 10th Lecture of " A General Introduction to
Psychoanalysis" (1916-17). it was said way before Kates was even born....NOOOOOOOOB...

first wiki was written by some one like you or I, that could possibly have had zero back round in even psy. second if you look in the discussion part there is no evidence to support or deny the claim that it was freud that said it first on that page.

* A fear of weapons is a sign of retarded sexual and emotional maturity.
o This is not a statement that appears in any translation of any of Freud's works. It is a paraphrase of a statement from the essay "Guns, Murders, and the Constitution" (February 1990) by Don B. Kates, Jr. where Kates summarizes his views of passages in Dreams in Folklore (1958) by Freud and David E. Oppenheim, while disputing statements by Emmanuel Tanay in "Neurotic Attachment to Guns" in a 1976 edition of The Fifty Minute Hour: A Collection of True Psychoanalytic Tales (1955) by Robert Mitchell Lindner:

Dr. Tanay is perhaps unaware of â€" in any event, he does not cite â€" other passages more relevant to his argument. In these other passages Freud associates retarded sexual and emotional development not with gun ownership, but with fear and loathing of weapons. The probative importance that ought to be attached to the views of Freud is, of course, a matter of opinion. The point here is only that those views provide no support for the penis theory of gun ownership.

Due to misreading of this essay and its citations, this paraphrase of an opinion about Freud's ideas has been wrongly attributed to Freud himself, and specifically to his 10th Lecture "Symbolism in Dreams" in General Introduction to Psychoanalysis on some internet forum pages: alt.quotations, uk.politics.guns, talk.politics.guns, can.talk.guns , etc.

I know anyone can write stuff on these pages but I just like messing with you :D

It was under the "Misattributed" section of the page

Anyway I hope you can get your money back for that Salifert Alk test if it is not working.
