Salifert Test Kits

OK....Yes......I'm feeling like quite the dunce.

I've read so much about how good the Salifert test kits are.....so I got a few....(Ammonia and Nitrite). I'm just a little confused. In the Ammonia kit....it says to use the 5 ml syringe to collect the water. The biggest syringe they gave me was 2 ml.

Also....the cups they give to do the test are very big....compared to the amount of water they tell you to put in. Is it correct that you only use a tiny amount of water compared to the size of the cup? The lines on the cup are at 10 ml and 20 ml.....but the most amount of water they tell you to use is 2 ml. Is that right or am I reading the directions wrong?

if you read the ammonia one, it does say use the 5 ml syringe, but to get....was it 1 ml or 2 ml. i don't have a kit handy.

the cups are way to big, you use very little water. but, from i have read here, you can't go wrong with a salifert test kit.

Ohhh.....OK, Good!

Thanks. I'm just so used to using 5 ml of water in my other brand test kit (Tetratest), that I thought maybe I wasn't reading something right. I just want to get as accurate a reading as I can.

Thanks again!

Your fine, I noticed the same thing. As a matter of fact One time I got a 5ml syringe and another time a 2ml. Habib has a thread for his tests if you want to ask him yourself but they are widely accepted as high quality.

Thanks Diver!

Who's Habib? I'll look for the thread, but the reassurances you guys gave is good enough. I just wanted to make sure I wasn't being TOTALLY stupid! I tend to have some brain fart issues sometimes. LOL!
