Salt Group Buy

Depends on the brand and how it would work, I suppose. I need some so if it works out I would be in.

Depends on if I think I'll be out that why near delivery, and the price, and which salt. More often then not, you can get near group buy prices at DF&S or at certain LFSs that use salt as their loss leader (common).

That said, the only salt I'm really interested in is Aquavitra Salinity (maybe ESV B-ionic too)

Definitely I would be interested in a group salt buy. That is the only thing I have to purchase from our wonderful LFS stores. I would be happy to be 100% free from them. I have just had too many bad experiences from them. Finally when they wouldn’t take some corals from me in exchange for store credit that was the final straw. How does a group salt buy work anyway?? I have done group buys with buddies before, but it was livestock only. Is there anything special about it?? Also, if everyone would chime in on what type of salt they are using I would be curious to know. I used to use Tropic Marin Pro, but switched to IO Reef Crystals. The reef crystals have worked well for me so far. Calcium 480----Alkalinity9/10 DKH-----Magnesium 1300.

Gomer: How does that aquavitra salt working for you? Isn't it pretty pricey?

I use SeaChem reef. I have not had much trouble with them, but I would be interested to find out what everybody uses and trusts. I could participate in the group buy if it was setup well.

wow, seesick, i'm surprised your still buying from the LFS if your having that much trouble, at the point Amazon.com could almost supply you at a lower cost/frustration point.

Aquavitra is expensive by the bucket, but not expensive in terms of $/gallon made.

Here is an old spread sheet with prices that were relevant to me in my old area.

Feel free to extrapolate to your prices etc.

The salt has been great for me. The ONLY issue is that it precipitates a film on my mixing brute and takes a little bit to dissolve. Beyond that, it's been a great salt mix!

Great information! Since it will be hard to organize and people are so picky on their salt it will be a while before we do a group salt buy in Albuquerque.
