I am at the bottom of my first bag of salt for my 12 NC and need to purchase more. I have mostly softies, and a frogspawn and 2 black and white clowns. No SPS. Any suggestions for a good brand of salt to get?

Thanks,
Olivia

Im a big fan of tropic marin pro reef.. i think a lot of the club like reef crystals.. but if you have mosty softies i would just use instant ocean

Dave;

Please don't take any offense here, but as someone who has used I/O without any problems with SPS (that I know of) for 8 years, could you elaborate on that comment.

Normally, I would not even touch this thread (being an outsider from NARC); however, having already started with my "special medication" for the evening I just couldn't help myself.;)

If you guys would rather I keep my remarks to myself, just say so and I will be happy to oblige.:D

J/K, but I'm, curious.

there is nutting wrong with it and sps its just low on ca and alk mag then you have to dose more.. i used it for years and i keep sps its just a mid range salt. i just like the higher grade less hassel

RC for me $50 bucks a bucket at petsmart and you get a free t-shirt that lets people know you are a fish nerd

$30 a bucket from DFS until Sept. 2nd... No shirt though... ;)

Thanks everyone.

Second question. Y'all mentioned getting a bucket of salt. Since I only change about 3-4 gallons of water a week should I invest in a bucket? If it gets damp due to humidity will that hurt it? What about if it takes me a year or so to use it...will it go bad?

Thanks,
Olivia

Harry...I can't believe no one else responded to you but you can comment here any old time you like.

We figured if we ignored him he would just go away:p

j/k of course:)

I use a mix of IO and RC.

If you keep the bucket sealed (ie. the top on well) it should stay good for a long time.
