I am about change my 75 gallon reef into a 240 gallon reef, curently i have a max and a few croacias up in the rock work of my 75 under 10 k 175's.....but when I have the new tank ready ill be running 3 250 HQI AB10K's...with these halides could I keep the clams on the sand bed...I think the tank highth will be 24 to 25 inches...not really sure if ill do the SSB OR DSB yet....

Sounds great! Crocea clams do like to attach themselves to something, so if you do decide to put them on the sandbed be sure to give them some sort of old shell half, or nice flat rock to attach themselves to.

If they are attached to the rocks, you may want to leave them attached. Clams can be removed from rocks, but you have to be VERY careful (using a sterile blade, cutting the threads and not the byssal organ, etc.)

Most of my clams are atached already to a rock surface, But ill create a nice low flow zone for them in there lagoon area..Ill leave them atached to the rocks and place it on the substrate, Im thinking that if ill pile some sand around them in combination witha chage of conditions lighting curent what not that they might unattach hopefully then I can lay some shells underneath them...Just wasent shure if the 250 Hqi's would be strong enough, I know the 400 watters are, but it seems like HQI is the new way to go...less heat and power consumption.
