Sand bed problems

I have a 125g tank that the sand bed tend to get dirty quickly. I was wondering if anyone might know what the problem or problems might be or is this normal? I have a 125g tank with 3 k-3, 1 k-2, a 1000 gph return pump and a 160 swc skimmer. Any suggestion or help plz. thanks in advance.

Define dirty? Are we talking algae, cyano, detritus? How long has the tank been up and running? Whats in it?

Mainly detritus. The tank been up about 1 year now. 3 tangs, 3 clown fishes, 6 small fishes. I had a polario ml22 before and that did not happen. I took it off because it was too strong for that size tank and replaced it with the k3s and k2.

while the return pump is 1000gph, how much do you have it dialed back?

seems to me it's a problem of flow. More flow will prevent the detritus from settling.

i dont have it dialed back at all. what would be the recommendation for my flow. should i get stronger powerheads or add more?
