OK heres the question I have a bluespotted jawfish on hold at the lfs i got a decent deal on him too hes eating well had a real nice home set up alrdy so i know hes healthy and acting normally, plus he was very interested in me when i came up to the tank which means hes active and alert to his environment ;). ok so neways im going to put him into a little 10 gal qt with a layer of sand and sum bleached dead coral pieces as rocks and hes going to have a sunburst anthias as a friend. so basically my question is will hypo still work and will ick completely still be killed in the tank even though they can hide in the sand, will that matter or not? and also after the 6 or 8 weeks of hypo is done and i raise the salinity back up can the sand still be used and free of the ick parasite?

Sand is not really a factor unless it is live sand. Hypo will kill the little critters in the sand. Keep a tight lid or it may jump. Watch pH daily. You should only quarantine one fish at a time unless they are a mated pair.
