Sand out??

I'm debating on taking what little sand I have in the display out and just keeping whatever I can't get out to cover the glass only.... Anyone see any potential pitfalls of doing that. I have a DSB in my fuge for nitrate removal and the one in the DT is pretty shallow as is. Thanks for any input!!

ive done it before. No biggie as long as you have some sand else where you should be fine , Just do it slowly as you dont wanna change anything to fast

Thanks bro. I took a bit out but not all. Going to do it slowly. Had a busy weekend and with summer coming the tanks is on the back burner..

Whenever you do a water change take some out with the water. I have done that over afew months but I did replace it after a time.
Are you looking at going BB or do you just want to replace your SB.

I'm gonna try to go BB in the display I think.....I'm not sure. I took some out and lowered my powerheads and there is better flow down low. The remnants of sand are piling up unpleasently....so I think I'll have to go BB as I don't like sandpiles on my corals!!! Haven't had the time for it lately though////
