Sand/rock recommendations for a trigger tank

I may be coming into possession of a 75g half-moon tank for free in the near future, and the plan so far is to have a single Picasso Trigger in there. The question is, how much rock would you guys recommend? I know they enjoy having a good amount of caves and overhangs to hide out in, but does the tank need to be chockablock full of rock like a reef tank? I'd like to save some money and not have the tank be intensely cluttered if I can help it. I plan on getting some Marco Rock dry Key Largo rock and supplementing it with 10-15 pounds of live rock to get it started.

How about the sand bed? Do you recommend 1-2" of live sand, or a deep sand bed? Where it's going I won't have the space to install a refugium to do a deep sand bed, so it'd have to go in the tank.

How about a clean up crew? Would hermits and snails even survive in there, or is he going to massacre them?

Thanks in advance!

Try a small cuc but he'll prob eat them, of course every fish is different.

Definitely don't have to pack it full like a reef. If it's just the one fish you only need a few caves, the rest would be for filtration purposes, that's up to you depending on what else your using for a filter. I prefer the smallest sand, like Bahamas oolite (sp?). The trigger will blow it around looking for little things to eat, but again if it's the only fish I do t think it would be that big of a problem. I would also put in a bunch of liverock rubble for him to play with, they like flippping them around in search for food, pretty fun to watch

These guys love to dig so I have a mix of fine sand with coarser crushed coral. Used the same in the undy's tank and so far so good. + 1 on toys like shells and rubble, triggers love to investigate IMO and IME so the more stuff to cart around flip up looking for worms etc the better especially in one fish only tanks.
