sand sifters

Gobies of the Valenciennea and Amblygobius species are the most widely used sand sifters. Signigobius biocellatus is also a sifter, though not a very vigorous one, but it has a dismal survival record in captivity. Goatfish will also sift through sand with barbels on thier chin (the gobies grab mouthfuls and sift through their gills) but both common varieties of goat fish get pretty large (10inch plus).
