Sand Sifting Starfish Help

I just purchased a sand sifting starfish. I swore I read all that I could on him but I guess I missed something. I have a 55 gallon tank and not a very mature substrate. What is the best way to target feed him? And with what? How often?

It is not common for them to take to spot feeding.

I would suggest, nonetheless, that you try meaty foods...shrimp, krill, squid, silversides, mussels, shrimp pellets...ANYTHING, by placing on a bamboo skewer or something and basically setting it right by the tips of the arms. They can "smelll" this.

i cant stop you really but im highly against having those kinda starfish in your tank...althought they stir ur sandbed, they eat all the critters than are necessary to the maturation of your sandbed...and over time ur sand bed wont be so "live" anymore..and depending on the situation..they will starve and die over time
