I am going to be putting new sand in my tank when I move. Where is the best place to find the whitest of white sand?

I'm not sure what size sand bed you want to have but if you want a nice white (probably depends on a little on your lighting too) thats handy for say 2-3" of sand I'm a big fan of Bahama Oolite sand. It's very fine grain and appears very white (until of course its been in your tank for a little while 
I think most LFS in the area carry this type or something similar. I see it most often as the Carib Sea brand.

I would get dead sand at the LFS before HD sand. It's $11 for 40lbs. (at least in So. Flo.). That's $34 for 120lbs. They both need washed, but you'll spend 5x the amount of time on the HD stuff...

yeah but who has Dead sand. I am looking for clean white sand. I have black sand now. It's neat but isn't as "bright" as I would like. Thanks!

When they say "dead sand" they mean not live sand which is what comes packaged with water, bacteria, microorganisms in the sand.
Theres dead sand at the LFS, the sand from home depot would also be "Dead" .
the sand people use is called southdown but its very very hard to find nowadays. With playground sand you need to make sure you wont be getting silicates - theres a test you can do with.. vinegar? If you pour some on the sand and it fizzes i think you're good to go (not 100% sure on that so you should definitely do some research first)

Yep, without water, most of that stuff will die 
(all be it collected dead). I suggested LFS instead of HD because you're not going to find Southdown anywhere. Substituting pulverized limestone or whatever in place is crap shoot. Call the LFS's, someone has to be able to get some. Should have known to adjust my price quote for Orlando prices lol...
