Saving Life from my old sump

Due to my stupidity (i cracked the old one) i have just had to replace my sump.

I have about two inches of water left in the old sump now with a significant amount of both detritus and live (copepods / brine shrimp etc).

Is there any way i can seperate out the life from the detritus? i really really want to transfer over the established colonies but cant bring myself to tip the brown stuff into the new sump with it.

Any suggestions more than welcome. Thank you in advance to anyone who offers advice.

2ft sump been running 12 months.

THanks for replying so quickly.

I was tempted with that as i have a fine net i can pour it through... but wont that just catch the copepods and brine too?
