Scoly

I went to AC today and saw one of the nicest Scoly's I have ever seen! If anyone has an extra $260 laying around I say it is WELL worth the money! I unfortunately do not have that kind of money laying around....

OK - I'll ask the stupid question of the day... what is "Scoly" short for? Or is that the actual name? It sounds like a drink!

Scolymia, it looks like a donut. The really nice ones are bright red and green striped! I've seen them go for as much as $700!!!

Here is a pic of my Scoly. It looks a little washed out, due to the light balance on my camera.

The green and red are Bleeding Apples or Sour Apples the ones with purple in them are called War Paints. $200 to $250 is the going rate for one that looks good. But like the above post Ive seen several for alot more. They are a sweet coral.

pretty yea but i dont see spending that much for a dang coral even if i wasnt on the "ghetto shack budget" as pickup calls it lol thats our freaking car payment :))

I remember a "frag" of chalice a while back sale for over $2000. I thought these people are insane then I kept thinking. To me 2 grand is alot of money but to some people its like $5.

thats true but for 2,000 bucks to seem like 5 to other people means they are raking in alot of money also no matter how much ya make or have many prople just have more money then cents lol pun intended lol

Reefs2go is doing ebay auctions...I watched several nice Scolys go for $70-$120, then $30 for shipping, they were some of the "Bleeding Apple" colorations...no need to spend over $150 for a Scoly. The lesser colored ones are usually $60-$120 everyday from many vendors.

I feel like I could handle $120 for a nice Scoly! I think Nightfire is talking about the My Miami Chalice that went for like $2000. I have seen a couple in person down in Florida and was not that impressed!

yea i was im sorry i dont see paying that dang much for a coral, much less anything doing with our hobby here even though i love it and cant get enough of it,there are so many fish and so many corals out there that they add so much color...i think it comes down to having more money, not using it well and just the fact that its new and different, though thats just IMO and i wouldnt knock anyone for having one......hey i want a 69 boss mustang and if i had the money i'd buy it right now :D

There are corals that, if I had the money, I would have it! Specifically a Tyree dragon soul favia, and I'm sure there are a few others.

For now, I'm really happy with my $75 rainbow acans. :D
