I love LPS and the Scoly is one of my favorites. When I first saw one at a frag swap I thought it was the best looking coral I had ever seen. I was going to buy it until I asked the price. Maybe one day they will be cheap enough that I can purchase one without making the wife angry.

I saw the 4 "scolies" at AC yesterday - each had a completely different color pattern. But sticker shock kept me moving along...

I know I'm the queen of stupid questions these days, but can a Scoly be fragged? It looked as if it had a mouth in the center of the plate. Just curious.

They are basically built the same way as an Acan. They have tentacles that come out at night, much like ones in your avatar NeedBiggerTank. The only difference is that they do not grow into multiple heads like acans do. I will look for the post about fraging them as I do not remember the result.

Those are sweet! The only thing I have seen that I want more than those is the Rainbow Explosion Chalice.

You can frag them... I have seen it done by members on other sites. They take a very long time to grow back to their original form. I have also seen two different Scolys cut in half and grafted together. Very neat but could be an expensive experiment!
