??? Scooter Blenny Question ???

Is it normal for a scooter blenny to disappear for a few days? We had a goby that completely disappeared about a month ago and now our scooter is gone. He was a very social fish. I used to be able to see him hiding under the sand, but now I don't see him anywhere. Is this normal??? Please help!

Thursday was the last day that I saw him out and eating. I don't have any stars in the tank other than asteris'. Could a serpent star be hiding in there?

I can't really move any of the rocks without messing up my entire aqua-scape. The only thing he could hide under, would be some of the corals that are in the sand. Should I consider him a goner? :(

Well, a 4 month old 34g probably doesn't have an established enough pod/fauna population (not sure it ever could, without a fuge) to sustain any mandarin. I've had a SB in my 65g for about 4 months now, and I wonder how much food there is in there for him. I used to see a lot of pods, but lately I haven't been. I regret getting him in hindsight, as I'd hate for him to slowly starve to death.

Mine disappeared one day too. :(

My LFS assured me that a scooter blenny would be fine for a start up fish... wrong wrong WRONG! I could have sworn I saw him eating and he looked well until he vanished... but I can only assume he starved to death from the lack of pods and was eaten by the cleaning crew.

Now I make sure I do my homework before buying any new fish. I won't be getting another until I can see pods *everywhere*... it's just not fair on the lil blighters otherwise.
