Scratched tank

HI everyone,

This guy at work said he would sell me his 100 gallon tank and the stand for only $60! The only down fall is he said that it is scratched big time. The previous owner had one of those magnetic algae scrubbers, and went to low and scooped up some sand and just scrubbed the whole tank. So it is extremely scratched. He said you cant see if at first when its just full of water but once algae starts going you can see it everywhere. Is there anyway i would be able to get rid of these scratches? I really dont want to have to pass this up, I have always wanted a huge tank but never had the money to buy it.

If it is an acrylic tank there are kits out there to buff out the scratches but it will take tons of work and elbow grease...

As for glass I really am not sure. I have used polishing grinders and wheels and lap stuff for glass before but that was for arty things lol not a tank. I think on that scale it might be pretty difficult. But you might be able to get some glass polishing pastes and use a a buffer?
