Screen top-odd, but will it work

Yesterday we tore down a safety net from ort trampoline and put up a new one. I was wondering if it would be safe for me to cut up and use it (with window frame) to make screen tops for my 3 QT tanks... Im not trying to cheap out and not buy the netting that is intended for this purpose. Its more of a, this thing is going to end up in a landfill, so why not try and re-purpose it type things... I dont foresee any issues, the holes are small enough to not allow fish to jump through, and large enough to let light in.... The only thing im concerned about is im not sure what it is made of... Any input would be welcomed.

Not sure if the net is safe or not, but have you thought about just using egg crate to cover the QT's? That is what I have on mine and it is easy to cut and gives you support on top of the tank if you need to set something on it. Cheap too

Yeah I have plenty of egg crate laying around that I can use. Again, I'm not worried about cost, I was just hoping to be able to possibly re-purpose the netting.
