Scuzy's 210 gallon Build

I am redoing my tank from a 150 non reef ready system to a 180 gallon AGA reef ready tank. The 180 gallon tank is used and will need a bit of scrubbing and elbow grease. I just got the base of the stand built and a few equipment for this system. Dual vortech Mp40W ES. I hope to get this system up and running by end of summer since. But first i will need to redo my flooring in the house. Remove the cork wood flooring and change to tiles. Here is a few pictures so far. Will update as time permits.

here is a picture of my previous system it needs a total refresh since it's was neglected for so long that it is hard to fix everything. Old system is a 150 glass aquarium non reef ready with custom pvc overflows. running on 1 tunze 6105, 1 tunze 6100, 2 tunze 6065 , 2 x maxspect 170 watt LED lighting fixture.

Should look good! Are you going to attempt to recreate the rockwork from your old tank, in this new one, and are you going to be using the same equipment?

going to swap out the tunze for 2 mp40wes and using the same skimmer SWC 180, a larger sump/refugium. Planning to simplified the rock work into two large islands instead of using the same rock works.

sump baffles siliconed in. The tank needs to dry then i will clean up the excess silicone. Not that good at siliconing but it'll work hopefully.

got more trimmings in. Had to use the stand as a temp storage since i had family guests over for a party and needed to cleanup the living room.

Yeah, the first time you make a sump, it doesn't usually come out looking great, but a little work with a razor blade, and it'll look fine. Have you leak tested it yet?

Looking good, new set ups are fun, aren't they.

I have 2" between the dividers in my sump. I put carbon in a bag in one of the spaces. It has worked well for me & no extra pump for a media reactor. Just a thought.

It's been awhile since I updated this thread. My family and work got in the way. I finished skinning my stand and moved the tank in. I will start the plumbing on it today or tomorrow.

One question. In the first picture of the sump in post #8 is the return/reactor section a lot taller than the rest of baffles?

Nevermind, I see now that in that picture it's reversed from drawing.

Yeah it was reversed when I stored it away a year ago.

Rusty: it's actually laminate flooring from buildirect. I had cork flooring before but as you an tell from my earlier pictures it didn't look right with the house and my dogs tore it up pretty badly and a few bad spills from the older tank caused me to redo flooring before finish building new tank.

great tank. do you feel that two mp40's will be enough for your 180. i have two in my 120g and is barely enough.

I would run one MEGA skimmer and a large and in charge algae scrubber maybe. I dunno if 14" of macro algae is gonna do much to filter that thing. this is assuming you were gonna fill that chamber with chaeto?

I will be adding a inline pump to add additional water movement in various corners of the tank. I also think that filling up the Refugio's chamber with charro will be enough for that tank.
