In-A-Gadda-Divita!
Took these tonight, my adrenaline junkie crab, named Brutus, every so often parks himself on top of the sea apple. Then the sea apple starts to open and he quickly leaves. He doesn't bit or clamp on to it, just climbs on and sits until he opens, then hauls crab butt to get away.
I've seen this happen twice now and got some pictures of it today. The colors are a little washed out because I have a string of whites out on my fixture due to a burnt driver.
Yes, I've heard and read all the bad stories of sea apples nuking tanks and I keep a close eye on him. It seems if they move a lot, they are not happy and healthy and are stressed; this one has only moved 8" in the two months I've had him AND he lives in the middle of an RBTA garden and is unaffected. He opens up at night, this is when I feed him Coral Frenzy and Reef Chili every other day, which he loves. So far, he has been an amazing animal to watch!
