Sea horses in a refugium?

I'd like to setup a refugium for my 90 gallon AGA tank and my wife has declared it can only be visible if it has sea horses. She claims they are "cute".

Is it possible to keep sea horses in a refugium? Will I able to keep chaeto in the refugium with them?

I'm thinking about getting a 10 gallon tank and putting it against the side of my main tank so the side of the 10 gallon is visable from the front. If sea horses cannot coexist directly with the chaeto then I may divide the tank in half.

Also, the tank has only been stocked since May and I'm nervous about keeping sea horses so soon so they might not get added for a while.

Personally I think a 10g is too small for seahorses. I would hide the fug and set-up a tank just for the sea horses. They can coexist with the macro though, In the wild they will hold onto the algae and filter the water for food.

If it has seahorses in it, it ain't a refugium. By definition, a refugium has no higher order predators within it.

I don't think 10 gallons is too small if it's attached to you main system.

Not really sure why you would want to have a visible refugium anyway, most of the ones I've seen aren't much to look at, but I suppose someone creative could do a nice job.

your refugium would need a refugium to support the seahorses, and if you do get seahorses make sure you get dwarfs
