i just switched from using kent to running with seachem. i found that i like seachems test kits better also seachems prices helps out as well. i still use two little fishies ( zoplan, and marine snow) to feed with. any thoghts?

thanks
mike

i'm using Reef plus, Reef complete, Reef calcium, reef iodide, and Reef carbonate. they seem to be doing what they should, i haven't seen much of a change yet.

I use Prestone Driveway Heat for calcium, MAGflake and Epsom salt for magnesium, and baking soda for alkalinity.

IMO, no need to dose iodine. I'm not into the bottled zooplankton or marine snow either.

For test kits (Ca, Alk, and Mg), I've got Salifert. When they run out, I'll restock with Elos.

i didn't know that you could use those things in your saltwater.
i have heard of pickling lime and vinger and someone said the other day about vodka. i guess my salifert test must have been old, i couldn't get a good test out of it. or that could have been just me
thanks j. montgomery

Check out the Reef Chemistry forum. There is a stickied thread with a lot of good articles on DIY calcium and alkalinity additives.

Salifert has had some bad batches of test kits :(
