Seahare Eggs!!!

I purchased a seahare this past weekend (side note he/she has mowed a huge area of bryprosis suspect algae already, but the worst of it is high on the rocks and he/she so far hasn't gone up there...)

Anyways I found this in my tank

EGGS!

Anyone know anything about this? Will they actually hatch? Will I end up with a tank full of seahares or do you think they would be eaten or go into the overflow/skimmer? Should I leave them or remove them, if I remove should I put them in a nano to see what happens?

Have to share some photos since it's so ugly it's cute...seahare is a "bali monster", he/she is HUGE, can be seen here doing the "limbo" when it tries to crawl up my main rocks (I think maybe it's to big to get up there?)

I have the exact same type of sea hare. Picked him/her up two days ago.

I am hoping it will mow down all of my dictyota algae.

That stuff could be eggs, the sea hare poop are dark pellets.

Yes, those are eggs, but they're almost definitely infertile and won't hatch. They often lay them when they're under stress or close to death, so keep an eye on the slug. Even if the eggs were fertile, the larvae are planktonic and won't last without a lot of special care. Personally, I'd just pull the mass out of the tank since the eggs are thought to be toxic to some fish if they're eaten.

Thank you for the info! I'll go ahead and pull them out today. I'll additionally keep an eye on the seahare, the eggs showed up last Sunday and as of this morning he/she is cruising around munching algae so hopefully no imminent death is approaching :)
