Seahorses

Has anyone seen seahorses in a lfs on LI recently?

Suffolk County Reef had them last week...

Where they the black ones? I am looking for some with color.

There were some at aquarium adventure...... but remember even if they are a certain color in the store don't shop for that because they can change color at the drop of a hat, another good place to look is the seahorse source online, they have a very wide selection and have a frozen mysis guaruntee that they are all captive bred and all will eat frozen food. You can request a particular color or if they have ciri but they will not guaruntee that those will be maintained. I say go with the mail order it is a much safer bet IMO

Definitely stay with captive bread and eating frozen mysis. Another good source is Draco Marine, http://www.dracomarine.org.

picked one up at aquahut today. eats frozen food and was $24.

Cool! What kind is he? And yes, you will need him to eat prepared foods.

I believe an erectus, they had like 6 of them, I asked them to feed it and all of the seahorses in the tank ate the mysis so they are captive bred which is good.

magic isle has them often, and they get in the blacks and yellows almost weekly.

just feed them often two to three times a day. they have very simple stomachs and need to eat frequently.
