i am not familar with the relationships with clowns and anenome's they will host. i have 2 sebae's and am trying to decide the best anenome choice for them to host in. wifey wants a RBTA because they are "pretty" as she says, but i wan to know if this is the best choice for them or is there more/better choices for the sebae's to host in?

According to Scott Michael's Marine Fishes book: If you have a Clark's clownfish (Amphiprion clarkii) it will host in most any common anemone. Clark's are often misidentified as a sebae. The true sebaes are actually in the saddleback family. They will most likely host in a Haddon's Sea Anemone (Stichodactyla haddoni). Haddon's is a type of carpet anemone which can be aggressive.

So it just depends on which fish you have.

Haddon's anemones have very sticky tentacles. Any animal coming in contact with the anemone is usually a goner (excluding clownfish in general).

I lost a large Sally Lightfoot crab to one, and many people have posted that they've lost unsuspecting fish. Some have even reported losing clownfish although that's rare.

HTH. . .

:D

You can google them and read about people's experience with them.

Carpets can grow very large and quickly, can move around a tank a lot and have a very powerful sting. They can kill corals as well as fish. They like a lot of light and flow. Having a clownfish in the tank with it can help it acclimation to one spot faster.

Having said all of that, I'm sure there are plenty of people who will tell you they one a carpet anemone and are very happy with it.

If you have a Clarkii, go for a RBTA. Clarkiis will take to bubble tip anemones fast.
