Ok, I have some zoas that I need to find a home for, but the problem is that they have some sort of hair algae. there are 3 different kinds. I have tried everything to get rid of the hair algae, but have not been sucessful. Please PM me if you are interested in taking on these problem zoas, I dont have the heart to flush them. Also, if you would like to donate some xenia to me, please let me know.
Thanks!

Sad, isnt it. I do have some, but it doesnt spread like crazy for me. Some of the strangest things thrive in my tank. And to top it off I just got a RBTA, I need my head examined. If things dont work out with my corals, Im just going to keep a GSM and a BTA...........and maybe some xenai *lol*

The ONLY time I ever lost zenia was when I let my salinity drop too far. The zenia I lost was the brown elongata. The salinity went down to about .020 before I caught it and started bringing it back up. I also lost a few longtime acros I had in the tank. Throughout all the headaches with that issue the pink pulsing zenia continued to thrive.

I wont let that happen again. Zenia grows very well in my tank unfortunetly as I'm trying to keep it down somewhat. I prune about every 4 weeks and flush a bunch. If you're interested in the next harvest drop me a pm and I'll be happy to give you all I can peel without nuking the tank. I live on beachside just north of Ponce Inlet. I'd say another small harvest will happen next week as there's a few stocks starting to wander. Another big harvest will happen after the holidays.

I just noticed your tank description. It says you're runnning a 24 gallon tank and I take it the MJ1200 & 600 are recirc pumps? If so I think you're overdoing it with a 1200 in such a small space. Do you think that may be the issue with the zenia's. I know in my tank when I re-point the recircs the zenias that get hit with high flowing water usually close up and stay that way until I change the pump direction. I could see 2 600's in a small tank but not a 1200, that has to be extreme flow for that small area.

Just a thought

*gasp* flush it?!?!? OMG, I would llove to take what ever you need to get rid of off your hands. I did do that once, with the salinity, but went too high, I didnt realize my top off water was actually SW.............The flow issue, well, I have the 2 maxis behind the wall and put in an extra thingie, you know where the flow comes out of the locline, so theres the 1200 mid tank and the 600 at the top, both are split so theres actually 4 places where the flow is coming from, but I will reposition them so they are not hitting the xenia and see what happens. Thanks for the tip! I will try anything at this point =)
