I am fixing to purchase some seio 1100's for my 120 gal tank. I am just wondering if anyone uses these and if so what is your opinion on them.

I tried them for a few weeks. Way to loud and I had to many re-start problems. I use them to mix my water now.

Save up and get something better.

just curious, but did you have it on a timer/wavemaker? If so, they're not sposed to be used on those due to their restarting troubles.

But i've got a few of the smaller seio's and love them. They're just bigger than the expensive tunze nanostreams, otherwise i'd go with the tunzes for sure ;)

But for what its worth, i like my seio's a lot. I will either use those or tunze's for now on (or something else that puts out wide flow like them) and never use maxijets/aquaclears again.

I use 2 of the 1100's. I don't have mine on a wavemaker or a timer but after they have been running for awhile they do occasionally have trouble restarting. I have 2 in my 90. I am currently waiting on 2 ea. Tunze 6055 to arrive stateside. I will then quit using the 1100. There really large as well. They do push around a decent amount of water and they have served me well.

They are a lot less then the Tunze. But if you can afford it the Tunze is probably the better pump.

I had 2 of the Seio 1100s and they were nice, cheap pumps. I didn't use it on a wavemaker, so they were turned on and left on. The only complaint that I have about them is that when I turned them off for cleaning, it'd have tap the prop with a straw to get it to start up again. These are inexpensive alternatives to other pumps on the market, but you get what you pay for. I was happy with these, but then the Hydor came, so I tried them out and these are going to be replacing the Seios.

I thought about Tunzes, but I couldn't justify spending that much.

I used a Seio 1100 in a 20g reef tank for over a year with no problems. It was controlled by a wavemaker (a Digital Aquatics Reefkeeper 2) and never had issues starting. The Reefkeeper 2 has a "softstart" feature, though. This might be the key to using the 1100s on wavetimers? However, even with the Reefkeeper 2's softstart, the 1100 clanked slightly each time it came on. (For reference, the Maxijets on the same Reefkeeper wavemaking control system never once clanked.)

As for quality, I really liked the amount of broad current it produced. It never gave me any trouble at all.
