Self leveling feet on a metal stand.

Hey guys i know the answer is here but could not find it. The notorious Search button not working.

I am going to have a metal stand made and i wanted to know if the self leveling feet would be a problem on a hard wood floor. the hardwood floor is sitting on a concreat slab also. would those leveling feet make a problem? pr crack the wood. or should i just go with the flat bottom.

Any input is greatly appreciated.

and some eye Candy here is the upcoming build thread tank.

I know from what i have seen a lot of people do not recommend it just for the point pressure it causes. In my opinion it should be ok as long as you use enough of them.

It will crush the hardwood sending your tank out of level. If you need the strength of a metal stand that the feet become an issue.

Go buy crushproof shims (plastic or steel) from your local big box store and use MANY of them to level and spread the weight out.

In your situation, I would probably use metal shims.

BTW, if you support RC ($20 a year, I think), the search button works :) It always works for me now. I figured it was worth the money with all of the information and the search feature :) You can also try the Google search feature.

Great guys thats for the input so ney on the adjustible feet.

And for these metal shims or plastic ones can i find them at Home Depot of Lowes? i guess i would go with plastic as the metal ones might rust or something.

Thanks

Yea you should be able to get them there they are a grey color i am not sure whether they say plastic or composite. I was looking at them the other day should be right next to the wood ones.

Cool thanks. Also ive never shimmed before. When i do it. the weight of the stand and glass tank on top should be enough to see if its balanced and add supports where needed? Right or do i need to add some water on there?
