selling my Peacock Mantis

Buy mantis

Buy mantis

I understand if you do not want to ship him but if you decide to just email me at ebaynes@bellsouth.net and i will buy him.
I have a tank set up and ready to go. If you ship him the right way with a peice of LR in with him and overnight him, he should be fine. (I know I keep saying him) I used to have one that came in my LR and I put him in his own tank. I was suprised how long he lived but now I am looking for another one.

he'll get crushed if you ship with a piece of liverock.
its a six inch peacock mantis.

dr roy suggests shipping in a modified water bottle.

I meant a very small "fragment" of rock, not even live rock, because of the die-off that could occur. Just something inside the plastic bottle for the mantis to hold on to.

Alot of people ship Mantis Shrimps in a thermos (cheap at Wal-Mart) and a small peice of mesh netting rather a rock/rubble.

best thing would probbly be some macro, atleast while it's in there for a little while it may produce some Oxygen and maybe absorb some bad stuff in the water? And it's softer.

It would be better than a rock...but still, its another object sloshing around in the dark...possibly causing more stress than help. Also, if it is a big enough piece of say, chaeto, the mantis can become trapped in it and if this piece happens to roll around and end up out of water...so does the critter. I would just leave the container empty. It wont be able to see much if anything, so putting something else in there will only result in scaring the crap out of it and having it punch holes in the sides.

As long as you're using up a thermos can't you just superglue/silicone a small piece of base rock to the side of the thermos?
