Selling my two Crocea clams

Hey guys. I am selling my two Crocea clams because they need stronger lighting. Before they were in my 55 gallon under Tek T5s doing great but since I downsized to my 30 gallon acrylic cube I have noticed they were reaching for more light since they are only under 150 watts of MH. Nonetheless they are still very healthy and still have brilliant colors.

Both are nice clams. Asking for $110 for the pair.

The maxima is not for sale.

150 watts of MH in a 30g is not enough for the clams? Are you sure about that?

i agree with ben and bobbi the 150 setup would give you 5 watts a gallon and the t5 on the 55 would give you 4. how tall is the cube? by the way they are very nice looking

Also your rock structure could be blocking the spread of the MH. Either way those clams look healthy.

55semireef, you have plenty of light for the clams. They are just adjusting to the MH but they will be fine. They are some really nice clams though. I saw them yesterday, and if you still decide to sell them , someone will be real happy with them, but i would keep them if i were you.

The watts per gallon rule isn't something you should go off by when it comes to deciding if you have enough light or not. Watts per gallon doesn't take in account how deep the tank is, how wide the tank is and what kind of lighting. Crocea clams are the most light demanding out of all the Tridancid clams. The rockwork is kind of shading my Croceas out of some light. Sure I think my MH can support the clams but that doesn't necessarily indicate they are receiving all the light that they should be getting. I honestly would rather sell them to a person that has more than plenty of light than to watchthem stretch for light in my cube.

If you do want to keep them, you could just move them up your rockwork. I had a 30g cube with a crocea clam in it. I kept it near the top with 150w of halides and it did great.

Unfortunately there isn't very much room for nesting on the rockwork. There is either no flat ledges or no available space. Not to mention my BTA would end up stinging them. I still have my maxima clam which has a spot on the rockwork but my Croceas are at the bottom. I would really like to sell them and whoever wants to buy them is getting a good deal/pair of clams. Who knows they might be male and female.

I ran into the same issue u had with space up in the rockwork, and it was also my reason for selling.

Personally, I wouldn't want to deal with clams spawning in the aquarium. You almost have to setup another tank specifically for that in order to be successful without wreaking havoc on your tank.

I know. I was just pointing that out in case anyone was interested. Yes, I would like to sell the Croceas as a pair and not part out unless you name a good price.

Thanks for all the feedback so far. Don't get me wrong I really do like the clams but I would prefer to see them in a different tank with more intense lighting...

i know that wpg is not the only thing to go by. the par rating is not the issue unless you cube is taller than the 55? how high is the cube?

Cube is 18 inches tall and I believe my 55 was around 19 inches tall but the clams were sitting on a 3.5 inch sandbed. Not to mention the T5s I had were stronger than my MH sunpod. The T5s put out more PAR to the sandbed since the light was even distributed.
