Separate tank to cure white spot

Hi all. I have a 5 foot 100g (ish) tank, mixed Reef (only a couple of LPS and 2 SPS). I have the following fish.
2x gold ring maroon clowns
1x porcupine puffer
1x valentini puffer
1x dwarf lion
1x dragon wrasse
1x pyjama wrasse
1x purple tang
1x yellow tail chromie
1x long eel type thing (think it's a wrasse or kind, very long and black and white. Very cool looking)
1x mandarin gobie

I also have a couple of fire shrimp, cleaner shrimp, loads of snails and hermits, there was an emerald somewhere but haven't seen him for a while. Also got a brittle sea star.

I notice from time to time my porcupine and purple tang get a bit of white spot and want to finally get rid of it. I plan on removing all the fish and putting them in a different plain tank for 6-8 weeks to try and get rid of it.

Question is... how should I set up the fish tank? I Know bare bottom is the way to go as I believe you don't want anything that the ich can stick to when it releases from the fish. But what about heaters and filtration? What else should be done?

Will everything else be ok in the main tank?

with that many fish, u will needs a good size qt tank. i have mine bare bottom with a few pvc pipes acting as hiding places for the fish. heater, hob filter and powerheads are all u need. slowly lowering the sg to 1.008 in qt tank. main tank must be fishless for 6-8 weeks to get rid of ich. keep all inverts and corals in main tank.

Will the ich not find a way to live in the PVC pipes or filter?

Ich cyst stage can adhere to the pvc or filter just like the glass of the tank...not the point though.

Are you sure it's ich? How are you going to treat the ich? Hypo as suggested?

I agree you are going to need a huge qt. You might want to consider sacrificing the shrimp, crabs, snails and doing hypo in the display.

Read up on tank transfer method, hypo, copper, ich, etc in the stickies.
