seperate refugium for copod cultivation

If I wanted to create a tank for the sole purpose of keeping and growing a copod population for my mandarin, what would I need? Do they need a "whole" set up? I guess I would need chaeto or something in there as well? What would they eat?

I have a spare 20 gallon tank that I could use to set this up...but just don't know what else they would need?

my assumption is that they need everything, but I am hoping it is more just a light and some agitation versus the whole sump/filter set up......

ANYONE???

You could also just buy a CPR aquafuge and hang it on the back of your tank, fill it with some live sand and chaeto and drop in a bottle of tigger pods. Within a month or two it'd be full of the lil fellas, and the drain-back of the water will also release pods into the display tank.

:)

Trying to do phyto in the same container would be futile. The artemia and copepods eat it to grow and breed. You will need a good supply of phyto for copepods. I dont think you would be very successful trying to raise both the copepods and artemia in the same container. It might work for a short time but I would think that one or the other culture would crash in short order.
