SEASL's September meeting will be held on Saturday, Sept 9 at 11:00am. We'll be meeting at:

St. Louis County Library Headquarters
1640 S. Lindbergh Blvd
St. Louis, MO 63131

Click here for a map and directions.

The focus of our September meeting is Captive Breeding and Propagation. Kathy Leahy (Kathy55g) has generously agreed to give us a presentation about her clownfish breeding experience.

The presentation(s) will be followed by a round table discussion about captive propagation efforts within the hobby. Areas of discussion may include LFS involvement in offering captive bred fish, inverts & corals, businesses actively involved in captive propagation such as ORA, personal experience with breeding/fragging, and the overall impact we see captive propagation efforts having on the hobby.

The discussion is open to all hobbyists in the St. Louis area. Everyone is welcome to join us and share ideas or just soak up the conversation.

If you are interested in leading a discussion or giving a small, informal presentation about your own captive breeding/propagation experience, please contact Becky McAlister at bmcalister @ oldcornerstone.com or McBeck on RC.

We can all benefit from hearing your experiences with captive breeding efforts. Anyone who has made an attempt to frag corals or breed fish has gained some wisdom that may benefit another reefer, so don't be shy!! Come on out and participate with your fellow hobbyists.

We look forward to seeing you there!

Thanks,
Brad, Becky & Tom

Hello SEASL,
Looks like I am on the menu...
Is there anything folks particularly want to hear about? I could talk forever about clownfish development, live food culture, methods of clownfish rearing, etc. but I don't want to bore you all.

My photographic skills are not that great, but I have a million pictures of the little guys. Perhaps you would like a slide show?

I messed up and scheduled patients 11-12:30. I have to get on the horn today and see if I can move them earlier. :(

I did some schedule rearranging but it doesn't matter because we had a death in the family (wife's grandmother) so I won't be there anyway.

If anyone has any questions on dwarf seahorses raising you are more than welcome to interrogate, I mean question me about them. I would have only taken up about 2 minutes anyway unless there were questions.

It was a great meeting. Kathy's presentation was wonderful and I think she answered a lot of questions. Nick also did a nice job discussing his fragging techniques.

I think everyone participated in the discussion and I am looking forward to our next discussion-based meeting. Thanks guys!!
