Sequence DART External Pump questions

Hello. I am thinking about buying a Dart for my return...I have a 180 gallon and will be return will be going to 2 SQWDS and then each SQWD will then go to 2 LOCLINES with 2 "Y"s. Therefore there are a total of 8 return nozzles.
Do you think the DART will be good for my application?
My stand is 36" high and of coarse it will be down at my stand...how about the mounting? do i bolt it down to the stand or on a board?
Is the DART quiet where I cant hear it? My tank is in the living room.
thanks!

Dart's pretty darn quiet. I originally tried it in my setup but then ended up selling it because my setup didn't work out the way I wanted it to.

It's a pretty good pump. Quiet, powerful, efficient. I think most people will tell you that it's going to be too powerful for the SCWD...

dznuts,
why didnt it turn out the way u wanted it?
what pump did u end up with?
Could you hear it inside the stand?

It's because I miscalculated stuff and it ended up the Dart pumped the water back faster than the water could drain. If I choked back the output, the flow was drastically reduced. Didn't want to risk getting more holes drilled into the glass after the production of the tank so instead I went with submersible pumps.

The dart was really quiet...couldn't really hear it. I'd go for it if I were to redo my setup. I must get rid of these mag12's and get some other energy efficient pumps...

A dart is more suited to a sea swirl or wavysea type setup because the darts are not pressure pumps. The scwd put a lot of backpressure on the pump plus the gph they can handle is probably much lower than the dart's output.

The barracuda is a pressure pump model. It put out lots more flow though so you'd probably need to have one line go to the tank directly and two branching lines go to the sea swirls.

The sequence pumps are the best on the market IMO and are whisper quiet :D

hi hypertec....these guys make good points....I dont think the scwd can handle that kind of flow...i think most people here use the dart for closed loop.

Additionally, they are also bringing up a good point.. you need an overflow that can handle the Dart pump.. depending on how much head pressure you have, even if you get 2000-3000gph, youd have to have a HUGE drain in your overflow, or dual HUGE overflows to handle this type of flow.... and then you'd be dealing with WAY too much flow going through your sump, creating microbubbles, and your tank will not look good.

So in the end, I think a DART is not for you if you arent going to use it for a closed loop.
